The heart uses its pumping action to distribute blood to all organs and tissues of the body. The blood delivers all the necessary substances to the organs, including nutrients, biologically active substances (hormones, enzymes, microelements, antibodies, etc.). Also, it helps the peripheral tissues to get rid of waste products, which come from protein, fat and carbohydrate catabolism, and carbon dioxide. These products are partially inactivated in the liver and then are excreted thorugh the lungs, kidneys, sweat glands, etc.
Cardiovascular diseases:

  • Ischemic heart disease (IHD), myocardial infarction;
  • Cerebrovascular disease – Stroke;
  • Arterial hypertension;
  • Diseases of the peripheral blood vessels;
  • Rheumatic disease of the heart;
  • Congenital and acquired defects of the heart;
  • Cardiomyopathies;
  • Atherosclerotic disease;

To determine and control the risk of cardiovascular disease, we should know:

  • Arterial blood pressure;
  • Blood glucose level;
  • Blood lipid levels;

Risk-factors of cardiovascular disease:

  • Family history;
  • Age;
  • Gender;
  • Unhealthy nutrition;
  • Low levels of physical activity;
  • Tobacco;
  • Arterial hypertension;
  • Dyslipidemia;
  • Excess weight;
  • Diabetes melitus;
  • Metabolic syndrome;
  • Perinatal factors;
  • Inflammatory markers.
