Rheumatology aims to diagnose, treat and prevent rheumatic diseases.

Rheumatic inflammation of the joints was first described by Hippocrates himself.

Rheumatic diseases include:

  • Systemic diseases of the connective tissue; systemic vasculitis (SLE, dermatomyositis, scleroderma);
  • Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (erythema nodosum, rheumatoid arthitis, Behcet disease, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis);
  • Arthritis due to chronic gastrointestinal diseases (Crohn’s disease, nonspecific ulcerative colitis);
  • Rheumatic fever, gout;
  • Chondrocalcinosis; osteoarthritis; osteoarthrosis.
